Chez Pushpa
₹₹₹ Upscale
A reservation-only Creole home-dining experience in Ariankuppam: duck vadavoum, prawn poriyal, and kesari served at a family table by Pushpa herself.
Chez Pushpa is not a restaurant in the conventional sense. It is a home in Ariankuppam where Pushpa cooks for small groups of guests who book in advance. The food is Creole: a cuisine that belongs specifically to the Franco-Tamil families of Pondicherry, blending French technique with South Indian spicing in ways that exist nowhere else.
The dishes change with the season and Pushpa's mood, but recurring highlights include duck vadavoum, ridge gourd with prawns poriyal, Vietnamese-style chả giò, and kesari for dessert. The experience is intimate: a minimum of three people, eaten together at the family table, with Pushpa explaining the history and provenance of each dish as it arrives.
This is one of the few places in the world where authentic Pondicherry Creole cuisine is available to visitors. Book well in advance.
