La Villa
₹₹₹ Upscale · White Town, Puducherry
A 19th-century mansion with a bougainvillea courtyard, serving refined Indo-French and Italian dishes on a seasonal menu that changes with what is fresh.
La Villa occupies a 19th-century colonial mansion in the White Town, its courtyard draped in bougainvillea and its dining room a study in understated heritage restoration. The seasonal menu shifts with what is available locally and changes frequently enough that return visits rarely feel repetitive.
The kitchen works best with seafood: the prawns and smoked fish fusilli is a consistent standout, as is the prawns coconut curry served inside a coconut shell. The grilled fish is precise and unfussy. The wine list is one of the more thoughtful in Pondicherry.
Service is unhurried and attentive. This is a place for a long lunch or a dinner with nowhere to be afterwards. Sister restaurant to Villa Shanti.
Must Order
- Prawns & smoked fish fusilli
- Prawns coconut curry
- Grilled fish
Tip: Book ahead for courtyard tables. The seasonal menu changes, so ask what is freshest.
