Sola Bistro

Mediterranean food in a restored French Quarter building. The thin-crust sourdough pizzas are the best in the city. Book ahead on weekends.
Sola Bistro occupies a colonial building in the French Quarter and brings a focus to its cooking that most Pondicherry restaurants do not bother with. The menu is Mediterranean: pizza, pasta, salads, and flatbreads, executed with more care than the surroundings might lead you to expect.
The thin-crust sourdough pizzas are the main draw. The dough is properly fermented, the toppings balanced, and the result is substantially better than anything else in its category in the city. The cocktail list is well-built: a Moscow Mule is the safe recommendation.
The restaurant fills up quickly after opening. Reservations are strongly recommended for dinner, especially on weekends.
