Villa Helena

₹₹₹ Upscale

A 19th-century colonial heritage property serving Indo-French and global cuisine. The smoked fish carpaccio and crème caramel are the highlights.

Villa Helena is a restored colonial property in the White Town that combines heritage accommodation with a restaurant open to non-residents. The building itself is worth seeing: thick-walled, high-ceilinged, with the particular cool that old Pondicherry houses hold even in the hottest months.

The menu ranges across Indo-French and global preparations with a preference for seafood and light, precise cooking. The smoked fish carpaccio is an elegant opener. The crème caramel is made in the French manner and is one of the better versions available in the city. The cheesecake with raspberry compôte is a reliable finish.

The restaurant is unhurried and the setting genuinely beautiful. It works well for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Must Order

  • Smoked fish carpaccio
  • Crème caramel
  • Cheesecake with raspberry compôte

Tip: The breakfast is underrated. Worth trying even if you are not staying at the property.
